In today’s society, both men and women alike strive to look younger for longer, which is not always an easy task. Many factors contribute to aging our skin including excessive sun exposure and decreased production of collagen. A lot of people spend thousands of pounds on creams or surgery to maintain their youthful appearance.
Surgery and miracle creams are a thing of the past. With 1-3 treatments, the clinically-tested and innovative Lynton EXCELIGHT® photo rejuvenation treatments use safe, visible light to give you a younger and fresher look.
The light emitted by the new technology make the skin look smoother by easily removing age spots and visible blood vessels which improves the skin’s texture. Additionally, the advanced IPL technology can diffuse redness and uneven pigmentation.
The IPL specialist administers a flash-lamp which produces a carefully filtered light. The Lynton EXCELIGHT® system is designed to ensure that only the right wavelengths reach the skin for the reduction of age spots, visible blood vessels, uneven pigmentation and redness.
The particular light that is allowed to reach the skin has been selected because it elicits two natural body substances, specifically melanin (which is in age spots) and haemoglobin (which is in blood vessels). When the pre-programmed wavelengths reach the melanin or haemoglobin, the heat from the light destroys them with a flash.
As no anaesthetic is required and individuals vary in their thresholds of pain, it is difficult to predict how much, if any, pain a particular individual client will feel when he or she receives the treatment.
To date, clients state that it feels like a case of over exposure to the sun. However, the lighter the skin colour, the less pain.
Prior to treatment, all you will be asked to do is avoid tanning before your treatment period. Since tanning increases the melanin in your skin, it will cause the skin to absorb a larger amount of light which ultimately makes the treatment less effective.
Nothing else needs to be done as the light used by the Lynton EXCELIGHT® IPL system is completely safe, visible light and any potentially harmful wavelengths are removed.
In terms of post-treatment care, none is usually necessary. However, clients with sensitive skin may benefit from applying an ice pack to the skin immediately after treatment or applying an aloe vera based product. Additionally, it is recommended to use a sunscreen (minimum SPF 50) for a few weeks following treatment.
You may notice that the skin looks a little ‘dirty’ for a few days following treatment. However, this is only temporary and you will find that your skin will gradually look and feel smoother and fresher. In order to maintain this fresh look, clients often elect to schedule 1-2 annual maintenance treatments in order to keep their youthful appearance.
