Microdermabrasion Facial

Microdermabrasion Facial

Diamond microdermabrasion is a treatment which involves the use of diamond tipped heads to mechanically exfoliate the skin without the use of chemicals or lasers. It is a non-surgical and non-invasive method of skin rejuvenation which is a painless, effective and affordable alternative to traditional chemical and laser peeling treatments.

In comparison to crystal microdermabrasion, the diamond alternative does not require the use of crystals but instead an applicator with a diamond tipped head dislodges any dead skin cells (from the stratum corneum layer of the epidermis) when it makes contact with the skin. The machine also has a suction function which gently removes the dead skin cells in order to provide an effective means of exfoliation, with the added benefit of cleaning pores.

Microdermabrasion Treatment

The result is smoother, brighter, clearer and younger looking skin. Another advantage of diamond microdermabrasion is that there is no discomfort during the treatment and no downtime afterwards.

Skin concerns microdermabrasion can improve:

  • Dry, flaky skin
  • Acne scarring
  • Oily/congested skin
  • Clogged pores
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Large pores
  • Sun damage
  • Textural issues
  • Age spots
  • Blemishes/blotchiness
  • Blackheads
  • Ageing skin
  • Whiteheads
  • Superficial hyperpigmentation

The treatment can also improve the production of collagen and elastin which helps the skin to rejuvenate at a quicker rate than it would normally; this results in fresher, clearer and younger looking skin.

The removal of the dead skin cells also allows products to penetrate more effectively to maximise their effects. For these reasons, clients who do not specifically have any of the indications above can still benefit greatly from a course of treatments.

FAQ's

The most common treatment areas are the face and neck, but microdermabrasion can be used anywhere on the body.

Treatments usually last around 20-30 minutes, possibly slightly longer if the optional treatment mask is also applied after the microdermabrasion treatment itself.

Clients will usually find that treatment effects are accumulative and a course of treatments is normally recommended for maximum results but improvements can often be seen after just one treatment. The exact number of sessions will vary from client to client depending on the skin concerns being addressed and the desired results.

Typically though, a course of 6 treatments usually give effective results for most clients and ‘top-up’ treatments can also maintain the benefits.

Treatment intervals can range from every 7-10 days for persistent skin concerns to once a month for maintenance.

A personalised plan can be produced for each individual client depending on the condition of their skin and the desired results.

There may be a tingling sensation after the treatment but this usually subsides very quickly. The skin may also appear slightly red/flushed but this also diminishes within 12-24 hours.

Microdermabrasion is suitable for most clients, however, there are some conditions that would make some clients unable to have the treatment e.g. diabetes, active cold sores, pregnancy.

A consultation will be carried out prior to treatment to determine a client’s suitability.
